MORPC says the Rickenbacker area sits in the southern part of the Columbus metro and is a major logistics hub for Central Ohio.

MORPC also says Rickenbacker is home to one of the world’s only cargo-dedicated international airports and a rail yard intermodal facility.

Columbus Regional Airport Authority reported 83,612,072 pounds of total cargo across CMH and Rickenbacker in 2025.

Rickenbacker handled 77,474,654 pounds of total cargo in 2025, while CMH handled 6,137,418 pounds.

For Columbus carriers working Rickenbacker, CMH cargo, rail intermodal freight, and south-side logistics routes, fuel drafts, driver pay, insurance, and repair bills can still come due before the customer pays the invoice.
